How to Jump Higher With Jump Squats

April 22nd, 2010 | by admin |

The jump squat, also known as jumping squat, is a form of a loaded/resisted jump.

They are a great way to jump higher because they are very sports-specific. Despite being a great vertical jump exercise, most athletes fail to do them correctly, resulting in pain and injury.

The main reason for this is because they use too much weight while doing the exercise. So, what is the right weight for loaded jumping?

The best way to pick the right weight is to look at it in terms of a percentage of your maximum squat. A good starting point is to use 10-15% of your maximum squat, and then gradually increase the weight to 25-30%.

So, if the maximum weight you can squat for 1 repetition is 100lbs, you should start around 10-15lbs, then gradually increase to 25-30lbs. The main emphasis behind loaded jumps is SPEED of movement and not the amount of weight used.

There are many ways to do jump squats. You can use barbells, dumbbells, kettlebells, sandbags, and weight vests.

Always remember to focus on speed and rhythm. You only need to jump a few inches off the ground with each jump.

In conclusion, jump squats are a great way to increase your vertical jump.

They will help you become a better, more explosive athlete, no matter what sport you play. Start including them in your current training regimen and you will take your game to the next level.
