Surprisingly you don’t get all your strength from your core leg muscles a lot of your power comes from where the jump starts. Your feet!
Are you sick and tired of hearing people say you have to leg press 1000 pounds to have a vertical leap?
I know I was, until i realized that in fact you didn’t have to leg press anything, all you had to do was build your power at the lowest part of your body.
So let’s get started, I’m going to explain exactly what vertical exercises I do and how they help me.
1, Building Your Achilles Heal: From very early on people realized the importance of this small area of your body. In 400 B.C the Mayans would torture enemies by cutting there Achilles Heal. They realized that all the power comes from here, without your tendon in place you can’t walk no matter how strong you many be!
Most people think that it is impossible to grow and strengthen your Achilles heal, but they couldn’t be more wrong. Toe raises are one of the most effective vertical exercises you can do for your Achilles heal area. Everyone should be familiar with this simple exercise. All you do is stand on a step, on your toes, and raise and lower yourself. Not rocket science right? But it is very effective and for that reason it is one of my favorite vertical exercises.
2,Jumping: This might seem like the most obvious thing possible but if you truly want to jump higher you need to jump a lot. Pretty Simple right? Try standing underneath a basketball net (or something tall) and try to touch the rim, practice and perfect your technique and soon you’ll be jumping higher than you ever thought possible. Vertical Exercises may not be the hardest exercises but they are very effective and accomplish a lot.
These aren’t groundbreaking but there so simple that many people forget to do them.
I know these will dramatically help you increase your vertical leap. Of course these are only a couple of the many vertical exercises you can do. There are many more secret vertical exercises that you can do, some are so secret that NBA coaches pay thousands so that there athletes can master there vertical leaps!
