Volleyball Exercises to Jump Higher

Any good volleyball player will want to know volleyball exercises to jump higher so that they can excel at the sport. There is no other sport that requires more jumping than volleyball.

That would explain why the best jumpers in the world are volleyball players, especially beach volleyball players. But whether you play indoor on a hard court or outdoors in the sand, you have to be able to jump high.

So how do you go about jumping higher for volleyball?

There are some great exercises that will increase your vertical leap and we look at some of them here. Your legs aren’t the only muscles you need to train to increase vertical jump height.

Squats are the most common leg exercise and with good reason, they mimic the jumping motion and will help build strength in the legs. But squats are not explosive enough to train your speed. They are simply a strength building exercise.

Calf raises are another great exercise that should be done and they build strength in the calve, which you need. But, you might not think that hamstrings are that important to jumping but they are. Speed comes from hamstrings, any sprinter will tell you that they work out the hamstrings a lot.

What you might not realize is that the lower back also needs to improve in strength. If your lower back is weak, it can hinder you jumping performance and affect your jumping ability greatly.

To really get results you have to do exercises you have never done before and with intensity that you have never used.
